Flower Overload

The sun was out today, and evidently so were the flowers. I blame my need to take photos of such beauts on my college education and the numerous floral projects we were given.

I could have worse obsessions habits I suppose...

Lust At First Sight

Black Sheep Mother of Pearl, Silver & Rose Gold Ring

Ok I lied. This ring has been in my work for a few months now but I have only JUST (shame on me) realised it's beauty. And now I have I MUST have it, obviously.

One'a these days!

Presents

I love a good present. Especially when said present, or in this case, PRESENTS are for no reason at all. These little number's (in addition to a few more) came courtesy of mumma bear and a trip into Urban Outfitters back in bonny old Scotland.
Hats off to my mother. She did it again!

Monday Night

Scallop Amok - Pan seared scallop with Cambodian steamed curry and kaffir lime.

Baja-style Tempura Fish Taco - Tempura flake, tortilla, mung bean salsa, avocado and wasabi mayonnaise.

Nashi Pear Cider Granita.

Bibimbap - Sous vide oyster blade steak with grilled rice cake, stir fried vegetables, gochujang sauce and egg yolk.

Purple Dragon Carrot Cake - With cream cheese ice cream, coconut curd and walnut twig.

Last night Mr Smith and I had the pleasure of attending our good friend John's cooking competition at his chef school (if that's the proper terminology...who knows) and man alive was it tasty! 5 courses thought up by him, and cooked with the help of classmates, for a group of around 40. We left feeling very proud of our pal and (more importantly) super satisfied at his efforts at getting us it for free. You're a good man my friend. And you better win!

Day Trippin'

I want a back garden. And I want to put this little guy in it.

Trying to be appropriate for a trek through a forest. Wearing, Savers Jumper, Urban Outfitters Jeans, Savers Sheepskin Coat (10 BUCKS!), Vintage Boots & House of Harlow Pendant.

Smith.

I LOVE a good day trip. Even if it takes days weeks of badgering my man friend until he agrees to drive us. What happened on this day I was so looking forward to? Well wait and I'll tell ya! We firstly stopped off at a little place called Olinda to get a famous pie from what is possibly the best name for a cafe ever, Pie in the Sky (it's up a hill and sells lots of pies, GENIUS!). But before we got our tasty snack we had a short stroll around the place and found these little metal cows and other barn yard creatures, which I fell in love with pretty much instantly and am now pretty sure I must own now to put at the bottom of my non-existant garden (one day I swear).

Next stop was the Dandenong Ranges for a walk through the forest. It was muddy, it was cold, but I surprised myself by not complaining too much at all. Obviously, apart from the moment when I almost fell into a river. But the less said about that the better. Finally, after making our way back to the car, (finding along the way the BIGGEST dead wombat I've ever seen in my life. Ok, I've never seen a dead wombat but still, it was freakin' huge), we drifted towards the soothing warmth of a little roadside tavern for a quick drink before making our return home to have a nap. Hello oldies!

So, all in all, a pretty sweet day I must say. And I cannot wait till the next one.

Date Night

Scallops with Bacon & Apple

This is one of the new bar/restaurants on Chapel St called The Woods of Windsor and was the setting for date night with my buddy Mickey. A little on the pricey side, but with an array of stuffed animals dotted about the place for your photographic pleasure( ok, my pleasure) it's totally worth it.

Passionfruit & Coconut Bellini

From there we moved a little further down the street to another new joint, Kid Boston. I won't lie, walking into the place to be slapped in the face with the smell of pork crackling made me regret our dining choice... but only a little (it was cheaper too). PLUS, they give you free chilli infused popcorn. Winner! So on that note, I'll keep dreaming of the crackling (and the popcorn) until I undoubtedly hit this place up for a snack next week.

Oops.

Funny how a little trip into the CBD to pay school fees can result in an impromptu trip into Zara, where you indoubtedly fall in love with at least 5 items. Just me? Oh well, my bank balance I restrained myself to these 2 silky shirts,
(leaving behind a beaut of a paisley blazer), justifying that because they were on sale, the fact that I will be POOR until next week is ok... Look out for me, I'll be the well dressed beggar asking you for change along Chapel St.

Brunswick St Cider House

Ohh mulled cider, where have you been all my life? This stuff comes courtesy of the (relatively) new cider bar on Brunswick St in the wonderful suburb of Fitzroy, and lordy am I in love with the place (I've been twice in the past week and don't even live on the same side of the river for christs sake!). At $6.50 a pop and even coming with a little slice of apple on the side, i defy anyone to not fall for the place... What are you waiting for, get going!

Mixing It Up

Savers Stripe Top, Pixie Market dress (worn as skirt), Vintage Argyle Knit Cardigan, Rayban Wayfarers, Camberwell Market Pendant, Vintage Brooch.

Well, well, well HELLO Mr Sun, how glad I was to see you today. Of course I had to take full advantage and wear as few layers as possible to head out for the (seriously) most delicious minestrone soup with my gentleman caller, at a little closeby placeon Chapel called Miletos. Again seriously, it's $8 for the small bowl and that is more than enough to fill your belly.

Anyway, it's high time I hit the hay... Alright, maybe just one more re-run of Ally McBeal first. So cringe but so good!

Winter Wonders

Clockwise from top left: Paddywax Cranberry candle, Grown Vitamin & Watermelon Lip Balm, Przepalanka Beskidzka caramel Vodka, Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm, Paddywax Pomegranate & Current soy wax candle.
Some of my winter "essentials". Because really, the hand & lip balm are the only essential items for my current existence... What can I say? All of a sudden my entire body seems to have dried up because of this cold weather (yum!). As for the vodka, god knows if it is actually caramel flavoured all I know is it's sweet, 45% alcohol, burns when it goes down, and will most definitely put hair on your chest. But the rest of it will be saved until I can source a log fire/bear skin rug combo to drink it near. It needs that kind of dignified swilling around the glass look while talking about global politics or some other kind of grown up conversation.

Finally, the candles. As much as it pains me to be a girl admitting my love for these suckers, I do. Those tasty aromas get me every time. Paddywax's selection are no exception, all shapes and sizes and pretty much every smell you could think of and what a coincidence... You can buy them from my work Black Sheep Galleries, and we can be found here
